Bayern Munich forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting nets hat-trick in 6-1 demolition

Sergej Gnabry grabs brace as Bundesliga leaders move nine points clear

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored a hat-trick as Bayern Munich thrashed Werder Bremen 6-1 in the Bundesliga on Saturday to move nine points clear at the top of the table.

The visitors took the lead in the 35th minute through Michael Gregoritsch, but Bayern hit back with three goals in the space of 10 minutes before half-time.

Sergej Gnabry leveled the scores in the 39th minute, before Choupo-Moting put Bayern ahead just two minutes later.

Gnabry then added his second of the game in the 44th minute to give Bayern a 3-1 lead at the break.

Choupo-Moting extended Bayern's lead in the 52nd minute, before Jamal Musiala made it 5-1 in the 66th minute.

Choupo-Moting completed his hat-trick in the 82nd minute to cap a dominant performance from the Bundesliga champions.

The win moves Bayern nine points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund, who have a game in hand.

Bayern will now turn their attention to the Champions League, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their last-16 tie on February 14.
