Crabs - A Curious Sea Creature
What is a Crab?
A crab is a sea creature with a flat round body covered by a shell and five pairs of legs with claws on the front pair.
Crabs are arthropods, which means they have a hard exoskeleton and jointed appendages. They are found in all the world's oceans, from the shallows to the deep sea. Crabs are omnivores and feed on a variety of plants and animals, including mollusks, crustaceans, and fish.
There are over 4,500 species of crabs, ranging in size from the tiny pea crab, which is only a few millimeters wide, to the giant Japanese spider crab, which can have a leg span of up to 12 feet.
Crabs are an important food source for humans and are also used in traditional medicine. Some people keep crabs as pets.
